Miki Morita of the Never Again Campaign (NAC) in Japan will present a slide show about Japanese life and culture and a short movie about survivors of the bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The primary purpose is to spread the story in a nonpartisan way of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bomb survivors. The second purpose is to promote Japanese culture to encourage international understanding. It is strictly nonpolitical. In the U.S., the Never Again Campaign is an outreach program of Berkshire Community College. Since 1985, NAC has had 52 volunteers and done over 11,000 presentations for over 360,000 people.
She has been presenting at schools to make young people aware of our legacy of atomic weapons and their medical effects.
Miki states: “I believe it is extremely important for all of us in this nuclear age to know what actually happened in order to create a world without them.”
She worked in an information technology company for 14 years from 1993 to 2008. Then she became a university student in English linguistics and international politics. She is currently working on a certificate to become an English teacher.
If time allows, she can offer Japanese calligraphy or an origami demonstration.
