Immigration as a Moral Issue: Study Group

Thursday, February 9, 2012 - 7:00pm

"Immigration as a Moral Issue," a study group based on a comprehensive curriculum developed by the UUA, will begin on Thursday, January 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Gale House living room. Meeting every other week for four sessions, we will examine a range of issues including current policies related to detention, deportation, enforcement and legal entry practices. Our goal is to create a vision for a just and fair immigration policy.

Below are topics for each of the four session. These sessions do build on each other, but you may participate selectively to suit your own schedule.

Session 1 - January 26: Understanding the Causes of Immigration
Session 2 - February 9: Economic Pressures Around Immigration
Session 3 - February 23: Enforcement and Human Rights
Session 4 - March 8: Who Benefits from a Broken System; Seeking Solutions

Sessions will be co-facilitated by Janet Holden and Shirley Lundin with supplementary presentations. Plan to participate! A Study Guide will be required.
