Human Rights Day: Human rights in Iran

Friday, December 10, 2010 (All day)

This event will spotlight the case of the seven imprisoned leaders of Iran's Baha'i community who have been given a long prison sentence solely for peacefully exercising their right to freedom of religion. Speakers will also discuss the worsening overall human rights situation in Iran as well as what people can do to help. Speakers will include award-winning Iranian journalist and former prisoner of conscience Omid Memarian and Frank Lewis, Professor of Persian at the University of Chicago and Baha'i community member. The even is co-sponsored by Amnesty International USA group 50 and the Baha'i Assemblies of Chicago, Wilmette and Evanston.
