Theoneste Bizimana, co-founder and coordinator of the Healing and Rebuilding Our Communities (HROC) program in Rwanda, will lead a program on community recovery from mass violence. The program will include the documentary film, "ICYIZERE:hope," about the work of the HROC, which is part of the Africa Great Lakes Initiative. Shelly Stratton, a New Hampshire social worker, will also share her experience as a participant in a HROC training in Rwanda in 2012.
HROC facilitates community understanding and compassionate resonse to the devastating impact of trauma by bringing together survivors and perpetrators of mass violence for mutual healing.
This program should be of special interest to social service providers, social workers, community activists, and leaders of immigrant/refugee groups who care about recovery from traumatic violence. All are welcome. Donations will be accepted.
