Friends Gallery

Canvassing Peace offers a a kaleidoscope of artists' perspectives on the meaning of peace, democracy, community, social identity, and the impact of wars past and present on the human psyche. Nine uniquely expressive artists explore the range of emotion generated during the arduous journey to social justice and the bureaucracies and barriers to peace encountered along the way.

Poster artist Robbie Conal and syndicated cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz use bold imagery and unapologetic satirical commentary in their wake-up calls to action. The works of Gail Gordon Carter, Michelle Cohen, Fabian Debora, Eric Estenzo, Paul Krehbiel, Thinh Nguyen and Linda Dalal Sawaya challenge and energize people in their struggle towards an earned community of peace.

The exhibit runs Jan 14 through Aug 12, 2010. Weekdays, 10am-4pm and Downtown Art Walk Nights, 6-8pm. Friends Gallery is located at 634 S. Spring St.
