Dorothy Roberts author of Fatal Invention: How Science, Politics, and Big Business Re-Create Race in the Twenty-first Century

Thursday, February 2, 2012 - 6:30pm

Fatal Invention is a major new work on the frontier of race and bioethics. A decade after the Human Genome Project proved that human beings are not naturally divided by race, it documents the rise of a new racial politics that relies on supposedly cutting edge genetic science to resuscitate race as a biological category written in our genes. Robert's sounds the alarm about how this obscures deepening racial inequities in today's "post-racial society" with dangerous implications in the fields of medicine, social programs, and surveillance and control.
