Discussion on: Women as Force and Reason of Revolution

Monday, December 17, 2012 - 6:30pm

You’re invited to a nationwide series of Marxist-Humanist discussions on:

Global Crises, Global Rebellion, and the Needed Philosophy of Revolution:
Women as Force and Reason of Revolution

The current war against women reflects both the intensity of the backward movement of today’s politics and also the potential of women as a subject of revolution. Women are fighting back--be it against fundamentalism from Egypt and Tunisia to Yemen; they are fighting against rape from Congo to the U.S. military; and they are fighting sexism and reaction worldwide. This discussion explores this potential as well as what women’s oppression and liberation reveal about the needed depth and totality of revolution.

Speakers: Terry Moon, “Woman as Reason” columnist, News & Letters, and Suzanne Rose, disability rights activist and writer

Date: Monday, December 17, 2012
Time: 6:30 PM
Place: News and Letters Library
228 S. Wabash Ave., Room 230, Chicago
