WFAN Co-Founder Denise O'Brien to Share Her Afghanistan Stories May 31 at Drake University

NOTE: This event has been postponed from this Thursday, May 24, due to President Obama's visit to Des Moines 
Denise O’Brien, the Atlantic (IA) organic farmer who co-founded Women, Food and Agriculture Network in 1997, recently returned from a one-year appointment as an agricultural advisor in Afghanistan for the USDA Office of Foreign Service Operations/Overseas.
 
Denise will speak on Thursday, May 31, at 7 p.m. at 206 Cartwright Hall, 27th St. and Carpenter Ave., Drake University, Des Moines, IA. She will talk about agriculture in Afghanistan and her work as an advisor, and show her photos of farming in Nangarhar Province. A question and answer session will follow. The event is free and open to the public, and will be followed by a social hour at Mars Café, 2318 University Avenue, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
