5 Fingers of Self-Defense: Individual & Community Responses to Violence.  For Adults and Teens
 
Learn the Five Fingers of Self-Defense: Think-Yell-Run-Fight-Tell and practice applying these strategies in variety of situations.  In role plays, group discussions and physical practice, gain confidence as you learn concrete ways to respond to conflict and violence using the “ethic of least harm.”  Practice strategic thinking, assertive communication, avoiding/stopping violence, and healing strategies. Other topics include harassment and hate-based violence, self-calming strategies, and intervening safely in violence directed at others. Taught from a perspective that emphasizes choosing the most peaceful response to violence, this popular Thousand Waves program is fun, empowering, effective, and community-building.  
 
Fee for the 12-hour training is $140; $125 if you register by Dec 30.  Scholarship assistance is available.
