Within the last year, the AFSC Miami office began groundbreaking work towards helping gay immigrants married to American citizens obtain legal permanent status (LPR). Gay immigrant spouses can now apply for legal status because on June 26th, 2013 Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was repealed in the US Supreme Court case Windsor v. United States.
Hundreds of marriage equality supporters, including married couples and religious leaders, crowded Representatives Hall in the State House this morning to oppose bills which would repeal the 2-year-old law that make it possible for same-sex couples to wed in New Hampshire.
On Wednesday, January 12th, Iowa Supreme Court Justice Mark Cady will deliver the annual State of Judiciary speech at the Iowa State Capitol.
