Israel-Palestine No-buy List

The Wall

The Wall - Bethlehem

Following approval of an Israel-Palestine investment screen by AFSC’s board, a staff/board committee developed an implementation plan and “no-buy list”.  After careful consideration the committee decided to use a list of 29 companies compiled by the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church as the foundation for a new no-buy list.  This list was put together following extensive research described here and with assistance from the Who Profits team

Churches Support Palestinian Rights

AFSC, joining other US based Churches, recently signed a letter sent to the Heads of Christian Churches in Jerusalem reiterating our support for nonviolent Palestinian efforts to realize their rights, particularly their right to self determination.  A copy of the letter may be accessed below.

We Want to End the Division

The protests and revolutions that have swept through the Middle East, have not left Palestine untouched.  Youth in Palestine began their own movement, calling for an end to the internal divisions between Palestinian political factions. Congressional Briefing: Israelis and Palestinians Demand Peace in Gaza

by Tim Sallinger

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Concerned citizens and Congressional staffers convened on Capitol Hill March 8 to hear the riveting stories of two people with deep ties to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Laila El-Haddad, a Palestinian from Gaza, lives in Maryland with her children and husband, a Palestinian refugee denied the right to return to his homeland. Her parents currently live in Gaza.

Join Me in D.C.

I remember the first day of my freshman year of college at DePaul University in Chicago. I walked into the Student Center and saw all kinds of flyers on the walls of our student center. Flyers calling for the boycott of Coca Cola because of its connection to violence in Colombia. A flyer promoting an event for Mexican immigrants’ rights. And of course, a flyer advertising the first meeting of the year for Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).  I will always remember the images of these flyers; they opened up a whole new world to me of student activism.
