Kurt Klein, a 17-year-old German Jew, emigrated to the US in 1937 to escape Hitler's growing discrimination against Jews. Once established, Klein worked for years to obtain safe passage for his parents out of Germany. America and the Holocaust tells the moving tale of Klein's struggles to free his parents, while exploring the complex social and political factors that led the American government to turn its back on the desperation of persecuted Jews.
