Countdown to Withdrawal

Help keep Iraq withdrawal going

The last U.S. mobile combat convoy left Iraq. By the end of the month, the remaining combat forces will also leave the country. This puts the Obama administration on track to reduce the U.S. troop level to 50,000 by August 31.

This is an important step, but does not by itself end the occupation of Iraq.

Wage Peace: Iraq

Iraq Campaign: To advocate for, and monitor, the removal of US combat troops by August 2010 and the complete removal of US troops and bases by 31 December 2011 through the Countdown to Withdrawal campaign.  As troops are removed, US efforts should focus on sustained and transparent financial support for Iraqi-led repair and reconstruction efforts that can create the conditions for Iraqi-led reconciliation from years of war.
