Arizona is bidding out for contracts to construct and manage 5,000 new private prison beds.  We have filed a legal complaint requesting an injunction to prevent the State of Arizona from awarding these contracts.

AFSC Sues to Block More Private Prison Beds in Arizona

Seeking to prevent Arizona from issuing contracts for 5,000 additional private prison beds, the American Friends Service Committee has filed an injunction and temporary restraining order in Maricopa County Superior Court, citing a 2010 escape with a violent aftermath, prison riots and other security concerns.

The Standard AZ Newspaper: Hearings to begin regarding private prisons

Hearings will be held soon in Tucson and Kingman to gain public awareness of issues connected to private prisons.

The Kingman hearing will be held 6-8 p.m.
