Iowans explore UN's role in Palestine

Over 30 people attended “The United Nations and Palestine,” a program sponsored by the AFSC’s Middle East Peace Education Project (MEPEP) and Drake University’s Middle East Peace and Prosperity Alliance (MEPPA) on Tuesday, November 19 in Drake University’s Olmsted Center.

November actions planned against drone killings

Called by National Network to Stop Drones Warfare and Surveillance, actions planned around the country are to include protests at weapons manufacturers, teach-ins, and congressional advocacy.

In Iowa, AFSC is working with Methodist Federation for Social Action (MFSA), Catholic Peace Ministry, and Veterans for Peace in building a campaign to stop US drones warfare.

In addition to the November 16 rally at 10 a.m. at Fleur and McKinley, Congressional office visits are set for Monday, November 18 -- 2 p.m. with Senators Harkin and Grassley's staff at the Federal Building, 210 Walnut, and 3 p.m. at Rep. Latham's office, 2700 Grand Ave. in Des Moines.
