UPDATE: Government by Big Business Goes Supranational The Corporate Invasion by LORI WALLACH
http://www.counterpunch.org/2013/12/06/the-corporate-invasion/

The TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership) is a massive international trade proposal encompassing 12 US and Pacific Rim countries in Latin America and Asia. It would establish a huge "free trade" zone that would, if passed, include 40% of the world's population and 60% of global GDP.

The negotiations have been kept secret from Congress and the American people. Six hundred (600) transnational corporations, however, are involved in the deliberations.

President Obama says he is pushing the TPP in order to "boost American exports, support American jobs, and level the playing field." Yet Representative Alan Grayson (FL), the first member of Congress given the opportunity to see an edited version of the classified text after years of pressure, said of the draft, "Having seen what I've seen, I would characterize this as a gross abrogation of American sovereignty... And I would further characterize it as a punch in the face to the middle class of America. I think that's fair to say from what I've seen so far. But I'm not allowed to tell you why."

The TPP threatens what remains of our democracy by providing corporations with the authority to circumvent national laws on food safety, the environment, worker rights, access to health care, banking and financial controls, among other issues.

The TPP is ultimate attempt at corporate rule…on a global scale.

Congress may be asked as soon as this fall to support the TPP. We have to persuade Congress to oppose it. Call or email both US Senators from Ohio and your Congressperson. Tell them to oppose the TPP.
